Amazon broke every business model that could be broken. But food delivery is not one of them. Last week Amazon announced that they are quitting food delivery.

At the same time, a small Swedish private company Ikea (ever heard of it?) announced that it became 6th largest food chain in the world and thinking about expanding to food delivery.

Somehow these two things neutralized each other and preserved fragile balance in the food delivery ecosystem. But who knows for long.

Amazon is the biggest delivery service in the world. They already deliver groceries. A company like that does not simply give up the idea to deliver food.

If Amazon can't create a food delivery service, they can buy one. They already invested $0.5 B into Deliveroo and may be looking for more.

And Ikea. What of it? If we are all lucky enough we will be able to order their meatless meatballs to our homes before next year.
