In 5th century BC on behalf of humanity, Socrates accepted that we know nothing. But only these days we can comprehend the scale of our ignorance.

Today new information appears at the same speed it is being disproven.

For example, one tote bag does more harm to the planet than a hundred plastic bags.

New research shows that to save the planet from the evil of the plastic bag all you have to do is use it twice. Yes. That easy. You don’t even have to use it for groceries a second time. Using it for garbage is enough.

But if you have already bought a tote bag made out of organic cotton... Well, you have to use it for not less than 7 thousand times. Only then the harm from manufacturing a cotton shopper will be the same as from a plastic bag.

The irony of all this is that Europe banned all plastic by 2021.

A year ago everyone thought that using a cotton bag instead of plastic is good. Today it’s not so straightforward. It seems that over time we know less and less.

But just over 100 years ago lord Calvin wrote that it’s no point in studying physics. We have discovered most of it. We know almost everything. He said it before the Theory of relativity and quantum mechanics came to be.

Now we can understand that we don’t just have no answers for universal questions, we can’t even say for sure if a tote bag is better for ecology than a plastic one.
